United Kingdom High Commissioner to Ghana Iain Walker paid a courtesy call on Minister of Aviation Joseph Kofi Adda on Monday, July 8, 2019.

During his visit, he referred to his government's plan to support the Ministry of Aviation by funding the extension of Tamale Airport through UK Export Finance.

Iain Walker said UK support to Ghana would go a long way in strengthening relations between the two countries and contributing to the country's economic development.

"We are very eager to allow the government to consider this. In Tamale, we seek to work with the government to broaden the airport's vision to help Ghana increase Ghana's economic development space. "

He also mentioned that the future of relations with the UK is more a matter of investment than help.

Aviation Minister Joseph Kofi Adda thanked the British government for its support to the aviation sector in Ghana, including the extension of Tamale Airport.

He further indicated that given recent trends in aviation infrastructure, Ghana was considering becoming the hub of aviation in Africa.

Mr. Adda however noted that with respect to the flooding at Terminal 3, work is underway and that an inspection will be carried out in the coming weeks.
