Unai Emery defended Mesut Ozil after the midfielder threw his jacket at Everton coaching staff in Arsenal's defeat at Goodison Park on Sunday.

The first four hopes of Arsenal were marred by Phil Jagielka's goal in the 10th minute of winning the win for Everton.

And tensions resumed in the 83rd minute when Dominic Calvert-Lewin was attacked by Shkodran Mustafi.

Everton's boss, Marco Silva, and his coaching staff began arguing with Emery, but when Arsenal's manager went to confront his counterpart, Ozil threw his jacket at the dugout of the House.

The jacket landed at Emery's feet and, once the spitting of the sideline cooled down, the game continued and Everton was able to stand up to victory .

"We have to limit our frustration and we learn it," Emery said after the match.

"[It was] not a good result but we are in the right direction, we are in the fourth row of the table.

"We have a big game against Naples in the middle of the week and next week against Watford is a positive match for us.

"We lost but we have to get up quickly and find the next victory."

Silva also downplayed the incident with Emery after the match.

"We had that moment during the match, football is emotional at that time," Silva said.

"He wants the best for his team, I want him for my team as well.

"At the end of the match, he had a lot of questions, I told him" good luck for the rest of your games. "
