A 21-year-old unemployed man who attacked and stole a mobile money trader in the Atwea Mountains in Sekyere Central District was sentenced to 15 years in prison by the Nsuta District Court.

The convict along with the parents agreed on a monthly salary of 200 ¢.

The prosecution stated that on May 31 of this year, at about 2 pm, the complainant had withdrawn an amount of 10,000 ¢ from the bank and counted it with the convict.

He stated that, while they were preparing to leave for Atwea Mountain, the detainee informed the complainant that he was going to take some clothes to his room and returned a few minutes later. later.

The prosecution stated that the two men then left on the complainant's motorcycle.

He stated that by reaching a stretch of the road between Asuafu and Atwea, the convict began to behave strangely on his motorcycle and the plaintiff therefore stopped.

The prosecution immediately reported that the detainee shot the complainant with a locally made gun and a pair of scissors; he had demanded and recovered the bag containing the money and two 650 ¢ mobile phones and rushing into a nearby bush.

Chief Inspector Konlan said the same day that the complainant had reported the incident to the convicted parents and then to the Nsuta police.

He said that on June 6 this year, police learned that the convict was hiding in Mamponteng, Kwabre East.

The police went to arrest and brought him to the Nsuta Police Station.

He added that during a search, the police found 7,170 ¢ and two cell phones.

Chief Inspector Konlan said during his interrogation that the convict had acknowledged the offense in his warning statement, saying that he had used a pair of scissors to threaten the plaintiff and not a gun.
