The flight, operated by United, a contractor, ExpressJet, was headed from Knoxville, Tennessee, to Houston, Texas, when it had a mechanical problem and was diverted to Dallas, said a ExpressJet representative at Business Insider. The representative did not specify the nature of the mechanical problem.

"Customers are coming in normally and we are working so our customers can get to their destination as quickly as possible," said the representative.

Rodney Giles, Twitter user m said his parents were in the plane and posted a video that he suggests was taken from the plane.

"We lost two of our screens," says the pilot of the flight. "Now, if we continued to fly, we would all eventually lose it because there was not enough cooling – there is tremendous heat behind these screens."
