Mathew Opoku Prempeh added that the government is currently reviewing existing programs at different levels of education in the country to ensure that graduates can compete in the 21st century world of work.

His comments elicited mixed reactions from educators, speakers and education stakeholders.

Some supported the idea that others rejected, stating that the government should instead focus on improving infrastructure and faculties rather than reducing the number of students. ; years.

In an interview, Dr. Armah contributed to the debate, but without the 1987 education reforms, Ghana had three years of university education.

"The minister is absolutely right that he says that university education can be completed in three years," he added, adding that programs should be restructured not only at the secondary level but also at the university level. at the university level.

He said countries around the world, including the United Kingdom, had completed a three-year university education and should not be too difficult to make similar changes to the length of university education in Ghana.

Although the Minister's suggestion remains a proposition until academic conferences are consulted, Armah says faculties need to revise their curricula.

According to him, some of the subjects dealt with at the university are repetitions of subjects at the secondary level and wanted this to be solved.
