Unvaccinated children seeking vaccines

More and more parents decide to either suspend vaccinations altogether, or to delay them, but once children are able to decide for themselves, remain unvaccinated or receive the treatments?

A teenager from Ohio spoke to Reddit to ask for advice on how to get vaccinated.

Ethan Lindenberger, 18, asked the question last year to other editors: "My parents think vaccines are a kind of government program. But because of their convictions, I have never been vaccinated, god knows how much I'm still alive. "

The Washington Post found that Lindenberger was not alone. Teenagers are now looking for vaccines alone, going against the decisions of their parents.

Lindenberger started looking for medical reports and introduced his parents to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, while he was trying to persuade his mother to allow him to be vaccinated, as well as his four siblings younger, reported the newspaper.

Lindenberger said her mother, Jill Wheeler, had made the decision not to vaccinate her children after hearing about a now debunked study that linked autism to immunizations, according to the Post.

When Wheeler did not want to let go, Lindenberger turned to his church pastor, who told him that he was allowed to make his own decision legally.

In December, Lindenberger went to an office of the Ohio Department of Health and received the vaccinations he lacked: hepatitis A, hepatitis B, influenza and HPV, reported the Post.

According to his medical record, he had been vaccinated against tetanus and hepatitis B at the age of 2 years. Her mother confirmed the tetanus shot after being cut, but said the shot for hepatitis B was a paper mistake, she told the science magazine in November. Undark line.

The debate about vaccinations has resurrected since the beginning of a measles outbreak in Washington. Doctors have treated more than 50 people in Washington and Oregon and a health emergency has been declared in Clark County, Washington, said KIRO and his partner, MyNorthwest.

Physicians recommend that all children receive the MMR vaccine in two doses: one 12 to 15 months and one second 4 to 6 years.
