There are caveats. Aside from the parking requirement (the highway code would prevent it on public streets), you or your PIN must be within 150 feet of the car. This will not help much if you and your car are at the opposite ends of a sprawling mall. And of course, it will not be as fast as the car park itself. You might as well walk if it's particularly busy.
Nevertheless, it is a big update for Tesla users. Until now, Summon was only useful to enter (or exit) from a narrow parking spot. Now, it is viable for many of these races where your vehicle is not near the door.
