The United States reports a significant increase in recent death rates among young and middle-aged adults.
This is reflected in a new report by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Between 2012 and 2017, mortality rates increased by 21% among white and black adults aged 25 to 44 and by 13% among Hispanic adults of the same age group.
Although the report did not badyze the causes of the increase in mortality, doctors at the American Public Health Association believe that opioid abuse is probably to blame.
To reverse this trend of deteriorating health, experts believe that the United States should continue to focus on tackling the epidemic of opioids and on obesity rates.
Experts also encourage a healthier diet, more physical exercise and quitting smoking and smoking.
