Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II
Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II expressed deep concern about the extent to which national problems limiting development continued to be politicized in Ghana.
"Politics divides Ghana. We have almost everything politicized. This is the truth and we must be frank about it, "lamented the monarch Asante.
"We should know that the interest of the nation is above partisan politics," he told members of the National Peace Council (NPC) executive when he said he was "in the dark. they paid him a courtesy call at Manhyia Palace, Kumasi.
The delegation, led by the very reverend Professor Emmanuel Asante, President of the Council, was at the Palace to thank Asantehene for his unfailing support for the cause of peace and unity in the country.
The visit also aimed to express the Council's gratitude to the traditional leader who led the Committee of Eminent Chiefs to find a lasting solution to the Dagbon crisis, following nearly two decades of conflict between the Abudu and Andani royal families. .
Otumfuo Osei Tutu said that it was imperative that the leaders of the nation have the courage to defend the sense of honesty and truth in the performance of their duties.
"There can be no significant development if we tackle national problems and other sensitive issues in a hypocritical way," Otumfuo said.
He spoke of recent efforts to end political vigilance in all its forms because of the political and selfish interests of some political leaders.
"We all know that the nation has its own criminal code and its rules and regulations on the punishment of criminals, but because of politics and hypocrisy, it has become difficult for us to enforce our own laws to the letter, "Otumfuo Osei Tutu observed.
This, he said, must change if Ghana wants to build a prosperous and investor-friendly society.
In a previous address, Bishop Asante paid tribute to Assantehene for her commitment to promoting peace and unity in the country.
