Edward Opoku, winger of the Columbus team
Birmingham Legion FC, a member of the United Soccer League championship, was loaned by Columbus winger Crew Edward Opoku.
The 22-year-old was selected by Crew SC with the ninth pick of the second round of the MLS SuperDraft 2018. To date, the Ghanaian striker has made five appearances in the regular season for the crew.
Before joining Columbus, Opoku attended the University of Virginia from 2015 to 2017, making 53 appearances (all contested) while recording 16 goals and 9 badists. In three years in Charlottesville, he has won three awards with all the conferences, two second all-ACC teams and a third-three-star team.
Opoku will join the team this week and will travel to Louisville next weekend to face Lou City FC on March 30th.
He becomes the fourth Ghanaian Legion player since he has already signed with Marcel Appiah, Prosper Kasim and the left-back of Dreams FC, Razak Cromwell.
