Verizon's spam filter is now free

The automated calls are annoying and it seems that the problem is only getting worse. But if you're using Verizon, you may have a new way to block them with the company's Call Filter app, which has recently become free for all Verizon customers.

Previously, the service, designed to detect phone spam and reduce phone spam, required a monthly fee of $ 2.99. However, this week, Verizon split the service into two levels: a free level that detects spam, filters automated calls and reports offending numbers to the carrier, and a new $ 2.99 plan that adds additional features like as caller ID, personal junk mail, blocking lists and even a risk indicator that attempts to evaluate potentially malicious calls.

In addition, to help further reduce automated calls, Verizon announced the introduction of call filter enhancements through the use of its STIR / SHAKEN technology, which can detect spammers who usurp legitimate phone numbers to bypbad conventional blocking techniques.

For Verizon customers with an iPhone, Call Filter is available for download on the App Store. For Android phone owners, Verizon claims that the call filter would already have been pre-installed on most devices.
