Horses tested positive for vesicular stomatitis in Los Alamos and Valencia counties in New Mexico.

Vesicular stomatitis was reported on June 27 in two horses in the same county of Sandoval County, New Mexico. On July 5, two more horses were confirmed positive for vesicular stomatitis. One was in Los Alamos County and the other in Valencia County.
Both horses had lesions caused by vesicular stomatitis in the ears, sheath and ventral abdomen.
The State Veterinary Office of the State of New Mexico suggested that if you plan to travel with your horses, ask your veterinarian to check with the State of destination for changes to the health certificate because of the vesicular stomatitis.
