Ferrari drivers Sebastian Vettel and Charles Leclerc agree to work together at the start of the Bahrain Grand Prix on Sunday.

Vettel was overtaken by Leclerc in qualifying on Saturday as the Scuderia continued to dominate the weekend procedure, but the German driver will unite to his teammate to try to keep the opposition off, when the light will turn off tonight.

"We have a very, very tough race ahead of us tomorrow," said Vettel.

"We have to work as a team and try to make sure we stay first and second, and we'll see how that goes."

"I think it's pretty clear, Charles goes in. He has the advantage of pole position."

While team orders were issued in Melbourne in the final stages of the race, Leclerc asked his Ferrari teammate Mattia Binotto to position himself behind Vettel.

Indeed, Leclerc said that he had the intention to defend his pole position starting Sunday, without undue risk.

"To be perfectly honest, we have not yet finished the pre-race meeting, so for the moment, I do not know," he said.

"If you ask me, I will do everything to keep my first place but, as you say, we are also a team and we have to work together."

Ferrari's performance in Bahrain allowed Scuderia to return to the form shown in pre-season testing and strangely gone in Australia.

Vettel congratulated the crews of Maranello for taking up the pace of the Italian team.

"We are much happier with the car this weekend," said the four-time world champion.

"The merit really goes to the team because it's a team effort." We did not feel both satisfied with the car in Melbourne and the team worked very hard to try to understand why.

"We had answers today that prove that we are able to run in first place and fight for pole position, thus stopping first place for Ferrari.

"It's a great testimony of their work."
