Sebastian Vettel completed his first laps for Aston Martin on Thursday, teasing a new racing helmet in the process.

Quadruple world champion Vettel, who joined after six years at Ferrari, drove to Silverstone for a day of filming. The green car was unveiled at an online launch on Wednesday.

Noteworthy is what appeared to be a new racing helmet for the four-time world champion.

At Ferrari, Vettel wore a white helmet with the colors of the German flag in the middle. For his first Aston Martin race, he wore a helmet that had turned those stripes in pink and purple – the colors of sponsor Aston Martin BWT, which was the title partner of the team’s former model, Racing Point.

As part of this old partnership, BWT used to insist that its drivers wear helmets that match this pattern.

It is not confirmed if this is Vettel’s helmet design for the new season.

Aston Martin returned to Formula 1 under the leadership of Lawrence Stroll, who wants to make it a title-winning operation. Vettel’s teammate is Stroll’s son, Lance.

Lance Stroll also made his first laps with the new car on filming day.

Aston Martin will participate in pre-season testing at the Bahrain International Circuit from March 12-14. The same venue will host the opening race of the year, the Bahrain Grand Prix, on March 28.
