A lawyer, Theophilus Ade Poju, has lodged a complaint against the vice-chancellor of the University of Education, Winneba, reverend father. Anthony Afful-Broni.

Mr Poju challenges the legality of the post of Vice Chancellor of the University by Reverend Afful-Broni.

In an interview with Citi News, Poju pleaded "under the statutes of the university, whoever occupies this position must hold him for four years".

"In September 2020, Afful-Broni will turn 60 and he will not have completed his four-year term. This alone is contrary to the statutes of the university. "

The lawyer also raised the question of how Professor Afful-Broni was chosen to replace Professor Mawutor Avoke, stating that there must be a research team and an audit, but "all these things have not been done. occurred".

Professor Samuel Asiedu Addo, the senior dean of the university, should have been the replacement of Professor Mawutor Avoke as Vice Chancellor.

"But by malice, bad intention, bad faith, the council has invested Afful-Boni as acting vice-chancellor, which is illegal under their own statutes, where these things do not conform to the good governance, "he said.

The school is currently going through what has been described as a leadership crisis following the dismissal of some professors by Professor Afful-Broni who sparked student protests that led to the closure of the school for an indefinite period.

Students and the Association of University Teachers of Ghana have accused the vice-chancellor of attempting to sabotage the school.

In the latest development, Professor Afful-Broni and other stakeholders have since agreed to work for calm in the school.
