Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia on Monday discussed the 31st ceremonial guard change at Jubilee House, the seat of the government, in a colorful military exhibition.

It was the second time that Vice President Bawumia fulfilled the role of the officer in charge of the examinations, since it was normally examined by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the commander-in-chief of the forces armed forces of Ghana.

The ceremonial parade is an old tradition inherited from the British and has remained the foundation of discipline in all armies.

The change of guard involves new troops exchanging their functions with the old guards.

The ceremony, which takes place on a quarterly basis, is similar to what happens at Buckingham Palace in England.

The purpose of the event is to ensure the vigilance and readiness of the armed forces at all times and to badess the strength of the soldiers on duty to ensure maximum security at the point of service.

The Ghanaian armed forces resumed air defense duties for three months.

The new guards performed some exercises to the delight of the spectators.

Senior government officials, including Ms. Akosua Osei Frema Opare, Chief of Staff, Defense Minister Dominic Nitiwul, Interior Minister Ambrose Dery, and Chiefs of Government of service, attended the ceremony.

Students from schools including St. Albans International, Graceland International, Catholic Special Vocational, Senior High School Lab, St. Xavier High School and First Star Academy also attended the ceremony.

The former commander of the guard, Staff Sergeant Asamoah Frank, entrusted his duties to the staff sergeant of the new commander of the Guard, Veronica Seshie.
