Vice President Bawumia presents 109 vehicles to police

Accra, June 6, GNA – The Vice President, Dr.
Mahamudu Bawumia handed Thursday 109 vehicles to Ghanaian police
Service to meet their logistical and operational needs and to ensure
maintaining order effective.

They included 16 buses, five tugs
vehicles, four tankers, 50 vans, five ambulances, 10 Toyota
Landcruisers V8 and 19 Toyota Landcruiser Troopers.

At a brief graduation ceremony at the
Police Headquarters in Accra, Vice President Bawumia declared for any democracy
nation to survive and thrive, it was prudent to staff the police department
the logistics and equipment necessary to maintain public order.

He said that since 2017, the government has
provided to police service 481 vehicles, while a charter of charge was received
An additional 109 vehicles are expected to be delivered in the next three months.

Mr. Ambrose Dery, Minister of the Interior
Government has expressed the Government's commitment to provide the police with
logistics and urged the police administration to use them effectively for
maintain law and order in the country.

The Inspector General of Police, Mr.
Oppong Boanuh, on behalf of the police administration, expressed deep
thanking the government for its support and promised to put the vehicles
to good use and maintain them for a longer life.

He said that the police service, over the years,
struggled to execute his constitutional mandate effectively because of inadequacy
logistics and staff and felt that the additional vehicles would stimulate its
operations and live up to the expectations of Ghanaians.

He said with the provision of vehicles
coupled with the ongoing construction work of 320 dwellings for the
Service, it would give them the morale to give the best of oneself.
