Victor Lindelof takes stock of the future of Man Utd after Barcelona transfer links

Victor Lindelof dismissed any discussion about a move to Barcelona and reaffirmed his commitment to Manchester United.

Lindelof's agent, Hasan Cetinkaya, said Barcelona wanted to sign the Swedish international, which joined United from Benfica in 2017 for £ 30m.

But Lindelof, who was voted America's best center last season after a tough campaign, said he was pleased with the Reds and that he was focusing on the upcoming new season.

"I am very, very happy to be a Manchester United player and I am really looking forward to starting this season and very happy here," Lindleof said.

"That's my answer to that.

"I always felt like a Manchester United player, but last season was better for me. I've got better results than at my first, beautiful.

"I'm happy that people think that [he’s the best central defender at the club].

"I'm just trying to do my best every day and that's what I'm working on hard to help every day the team and the club, so yes."

With the difficulties he had in his first season at United, Lindelof said he was able to put his experience at the service of newcomers, such as Aaaron Wan-Bissaka and Daniel James.

"Well, new players, new recruits, our team will always try to help them get settled as quickly as possible," Lindelof said.

"It's my third season here, I've already signed what it's like to sign for this club and receive some criticism.

"But that's part of the game and, as I've said before, all team members are trying to help new players."

Lindelof, Romelu Lukaku, David De Gea and Lee Grant all missed United's 2-0 win over Perth Glory, but Solskjaer said all would play against Leeds tomorrow, with the exception of Grant.

"We were all training yesterday, no one missed training, 24 players plus goalkeepers," said Solskjaer.

"Granty is still not fit and we may not risk Luke Shaw. Luke has been driven yesterday, but we may not risk it tomorrow.

United and Leeds last clashed in 2011 when the Reds triumphed 3-0 in a League Cup game at Elland Road.

Leeds has been out of the Premier League since 2004 and Solskjaer, who remembered his scathing encounters when he was a player, said matches between the two big rivals were still great opportunities.

"The more you play against each other, the stronger the rivalry and you want to compete against the biggest clubs," said Solskjaer.

"If we see Leeds coming back to the Premier League, you will see the size of the match. This is a great opportunity for both groups of supporters because there have been fantastic games.

"I have a lot of good memories, probably the 4-3 win when I scored two goals at Elland Road and that David Beckham and Ian Harte probably have the slowest run ever made for a pbad from 50 yards from Scholesy.

"There were some great games against them. They had formed a fantastic team in the late 1990s and early 2000s.

"Erik Bakke [Solskjaer’s fellow Norwegian] was also in this team, so there were a lot of ferocious tackles in these games and I hope it will be a good competitive match tomorrow – I'm sure that will be the case.

"I want my players to go out there and try to win, and it's the same with Marcelo. [Bielsa].

"We are competitive, we are competitors. If you play a game you want to win, but of course, it will use fair methods. If it's Leeds, Liverpool or Perth Glory, you just want to win the game. "
