Victoria in Australia reports 11 locally acquired COVID-19 cases

SYDNEY, Aug. 9 (Reuters) – The Australian state of Victoria on Monday reported 11 locally acquired COVID-19 cases, the same number as the day before, as nearly seven million people in the state suffer an instant lockdown week, its sixth since the pandemic began.

All of the new infections are linked, but only one has been in quarantine throughout its infectious period, the state’s health department said.

Victoria went into lockdown last Thursday to eradicate an outbreak of the highly infectious Delta variant. Read more
