The presence of Charles Bissue, a besieged member of the presidential staff, at the public meeting of the diaspora in London has been controversial.

During this time, Mr. Bissue responded in writing to the events that took place at the meeting:

"I have lived in the UK for almost 20 years, all my kids are in the UK. I have followed all my higher education in the UK.

"I asked permission from the chief of staff to come meet with my thesis supervisor on mining reforms in Ghana (privately funded) and see my children as well. I was not a member of the government entourage; I went to the program as regional secretary of the new patriotic party,he explained.
