The deputy of Chereponi, Samuel Abdulai Jabanyite, collapsed his head in a handkerchief, holding back his tears after watching a Joynews documentary on the protracted conflict in the Northeast region.

The MP had watched several residents tell their stories of limited options after a new bloodshed that killed two people.

A woman, observing the remains of her mud burned home, said that all the properties her family had collected had been burned – mattress, roof – photo.

Including a bunch of cbadava – her last hope of a decent meal – she kept inside her home.

She had to choose between cbadava and her life on the fateful day when she saw clouds of smoke heralding the beginning of the violence.

"I called my kids and we run," she told Gifty Andoh-Appiah, of JoyNews. The woman said the residents lived in apprehension because there was no warning of attack.

Another man said he could not find his wife and seven children – 20, 16, 12, 10, 7, 5 and 2 years old.

"They ran away … I do not know where to find them," he said after combing through the area. His house burned in this moment of madness.

"They were sleeping here with their books," he said. He then led the journalist to inspect empty rooms with frightened walls. The food and clothes have all disappeared.

He said he was not able to report to the police in an area where security remains fragile. The conflict zone is cut off from any road and is a vast slum area scattered, making it difficult for security guards to navigate.

Summing up his difficult situation, the man said "unless God".

Back at the JoyNews studios in Accra, the MP watched the AM Television documentary on Wednesday with Mamavi Owusu-Aboagye.

He said he returned to Accra after spending several days in his constituency. About four days after his return, Konkonbas and Chokosis began their fury and began the fourth round of violence in five months.

Recalling the outbreak, the MP collapsed.
