Carlos Ghosn's lawyers broadcast a video of the former Nissan president addressing the public for the first time. He was filmed before his last arrest. As he has done in the past, he has repeatedly proclaimed his innocence and has not detailed the details of the charges.
In the video of about eight minutes, Ghosn calls all charges against him biased, taken out of context and twisted to depict him as a greedy dictator.
He defends his direction and claims that the charges against him result from a plot and shots in the back.
Ghosn said it came from fear that Nissan's autonomy would be threatened by its alliance with the French automaker Renault.
Ghosn's lawyers say that they have removed his mention of specific names.
But he accuses them of mismanaging the company and not having a vision for the future.
Ghosn emphasizes his love for society and Japan and ends by stating that his greatest hope is to have a fair trial so that it can be "justified".
