Chereponi 44 Until now, two people were reported dead and seven houses burned.

The government told the warring factions in Chereponi that violence was not the way to solve society's problems.

This follows the resumption of clashes between Konkombas and Chokosis in the Chereponi district of the Northeast region over the weekend.

Kojo Oppong-Nkrumah, the information minister, addressed Sunday to reporters during a media meeting in Accra.

He added that once peace and order is restored in the region, efforts will be made to understand the underlying factors and resolve them once and for all.

The minister said that when people resort to violence to resolve their differences, the law of the land must take its course.

He indicated that the Government would study the report presented by the Committee, which was charged with investigating the root cause of violence in Chereponi and implementing its recommendations to ensure lasting peace and harmony in the region.

Up to now, two people were reportedly killed and seven houses burned, with some residents fleeing the area.

Last year, a brawl broke out between Chokosis and Konkombas on a piece of land in Chereponi district, claiming many lives.
