A show by Franco-Ivorian rapper Kaaris in Abidjan ended with violence. Fans were injured as they rushed to the scene, AFP reporters said.
Kaaris, wearing an orange jersey from the Ivorian national football team, began Saturday night the fourth song of his set at the urban music festival of Anoumabo (Femua), when fans overturned the security barriers and taken in advance.
The security guards forced them to return with batons, while the police fired tear gas at a group of particularly unruly fans, ending the concert that brought together nearly 10,000 people.
A fan who came to see his "idol" blamed the crowd, while Kaaris came back an hour later to vent his anger and call for calm.
On Sunday, the rapper will participate in an event in Gagnoa, in west-central Ivory Coast, alongside former football star Didier Drogba and Salif Traoré, also known as " Asalfo "from the Magic System group.
"It's going to be hot, I can not wait," said Kaaris. "I was born there, I have a lot of hope in me and I want to share some."
However, he declined to comment further on the press about a much-publicized fight in August with rival rapper Booba at Orly airport, south of Paris.
"You can ask him when you see him," Kaaris said.
