Virgil Van Dijk and his Liverpool teammates send a message to Mohamed Salah in a climate of drought

Liverpool defender Virgil Van Dijk told striker Mohamed Salah: "Keep working hard and the goals will be achieved".

Salah has not found the net since the 3-0 Premier League win at Liverpool on Bournemouth on Feb. 9 and extended his scoreless run to seven games in Sunday's victory over Fulham.

This barren period has left the Egyptian star stuck in 49 Premier League goals for the Reds, but it is not a concern for Van Dijk.

The Dutch central back thinks Salah still contributes to the team and has backed the striker to regain his touch in front of the goals.

"Mo is a world-clbad player," said the center-back on Liverpool's official website.

"People can say whatever they want, but I think all the Premier League teams would like to have them by their side. We have it and I think it's playing well.

"The goals will come. This is something that will please an attacker but we tell him every time: you just have to keep working, keep going and everything will be fine.

Salah has not scored in seven games

"He's always scored a lot of goals for us, to be fair, so it's not like two like me! It's like that."

If Salah finds the net in the next four games, he will become the fastest player to score 50 goals in the league for Liverpool, beating Fernando Torres who has reached its half-century in 72 games.

But Alan Shearer, the all-time leading scorer in the Premier League, believes that the Egyptian has become too predictable.

Salah has not scored since 9 February

"Defenders all know what Salah wants to do now," he wrote in his column for the Sun.

"He wants to cut his right foot to get back on his left foot and he does not influence the big matches either as he was before.

"Salah seems to lack self-confidence and shows some signs of nervousness – it's really worrisome for the Reds at a crucial time of the season."
