Virgil van Dijk may have been booed by English fans, but the Liverpool star had the final say in support of the Three Lions – and Raheem Sterling.
The Netherlands came from behind to qualify for the Uefa Nations League final, with England having been beaten 3-1 after surrendering in overtime.
Two shocking mistakes allowed the Netherlands to win, but Liverpool fans were more interested in a quick argument between Van Dijk and former Red, Sterling.
Van Dijk was superbly close to the ball by Sterling, who accelerated to the Netherlands goal in the second half, the match being stuck at 1-1.
But two strong advances allowed Van Dijk to catch Sterling, just in time to deflect the Manchester City striker's ball.
Liverpool fans loved Van Dijk's instant revenge gesture and screamed on Twitter as their talisman sent the bags to Sterling.
Sterling muscled Van Dijk on the ball
And had some grbad to burn while he was moving away at full speed …
But Van Dijk unchecked the ball
To the great annoyance of Sterling
