The use of voice badistants is expected to triple over the next few years, according to new forecasts by British badysts Juniper Research. The company estimates that 8 billion digital voice badistants will be used by 2023, compared with 2.5 billion badistants by the end of 2018.

The majority of these badistants will live on smartphones, where Google Assistant and Siri respectively offer voice badistants to Android and iOS users.

The company expects the smart TV voice badistant category to increase by 121.3% (CAGR) over the next five years, while smart speakers will increase by 41.3%. Laptops will also play an important role, with growth of 40.2 percent, the study revealed.

Alexa is already the leader in the smart speaker market, but in the coming years, Chinese companies will have to deploy their own smart devices, according to the report.

It should also be noted that the report challenges the view that smart speakers are not used for trading. Instead, he says that voice trading will increase dramatically to over $ 80 billion a year by 2023. However, his findings are distorted.

Its voice commerce figure includes money transfer and digital goods purchases, as well as the use of voice commerce for more traditional purchases. And he does not expect physical purchases to account for most of that $ 80 billion.

"We expect the majority of voice transactions to be digital purchases, until digital badistants deliver truly seamless experiences across multiple platforms," ​​said the author of the research. James Moar, in a statement on the new study. "Connected TVs and smart screens are vital here because they can provide a visual context that is lacking in smart speakers."

It should also be noted that Juniper believes that the rise of digital badistants will have a negative impact on the global mobile application market. Specifically, it indicates that as consumer demand for multiplatform badistants increases, stand-alone applications for smartphones and tablets designed by independent developers will decline. This will happen because many of the simple interactions for which we use the applications today will be outsourced to the benefit of voice badistants. And this, in turn, will also reduce our screen time.

In addition, there is some evidence to suggest that smart speakers are now a part of everyday users, unlike voice badistants on other platforms. This will lead to increased demand for voice interactions only in the future, the firm said.
