The weekend dinner titled “GJA Volta / Oti End of Year Get-together” and sponsored by the Adaklu District Assembly, was hosted by regional executives to help members avoid the stress of a 2020 tough and hectic and getting ready to do their best in the new year.
Speaking at the event held at the Ho Press Center, Mr. Anthony Bells Kafui Kanyi, President of Volta / Oti GJA, said that such gatherings help bring unity, a sense of membership and to provide platforms where young and veteran journalists could interact and share ideas for improving the profession in their respective regions.
Mr. Wilhelm Gaitu, a retired practitioner who chaired the event, called on journalists to always be ready to learn new things in such programs in order to better practice their profession for the benefit of society and demanded that ” let’s put our region, our community first because when our region grows, so do we ”.
Reverend Hansen Wedanu, also a journalist, instructed his professional colleagues to distinguish themselves in their work by making conscious efforts to “read, write, think, speak and practice” bearing in mind that whatever they reported could have a positive or negative impact on society. .
Chief Superintendent Mercy Wilson Brown, Volta Regional Crime Officer, praised the Volta media for their roles before, during and after the just concluded presidential and parliamentary elections and called on them to continue to be professional in ensuring peace in the region.

Mr. Donkor Kadey, the Chief of the District Executive (DCE) of Adaklu who was the guest speaker that day, spoke about the need to create cordial relations among the relevant stakeholders for the advancement of society.
He said that the progress made by Adaklu district in terms of development was possible because he (the DCE) had the support of Mr. Kwame Agbodza, the deputy of the region, traditional authority and staff. of the Assembly and promised to build a close relationship with the media in the future to further the development of the District.
