The Executive Heads of Municipalities and Districts (MDCE) of the Volta region congratulated President Akufo-Addo for re-appointing Dr Yao Archibald Letsa as the Volta Regional Minister.
In a press release published on Sunday January 24, the MDCEs expressed their enthusiasm for the reappointment of Dr Letsa, which they said was good news they had expected.
They also added that Dr Letsa was and always will be a party delegate for many years to come.
“Dr Archibald worked diligently and won the admiration of many in the region and beyond,” the statement continued.
According to the MDCE, they noted some agitations and concerns of part of the population of the region and their intention to undertake a series of demonstrations to raise their grievances.
The MDCE further indicated that as long as it is their right to demonstrate to register their discontent in accordance with the 1992 constitution, they should reconsider their actions and suspend them.
They also called on the group to think about the second wave of covid-19 which is spreading at a higher rate.
They further urged party leaders to speed up their processes to address the concerns of the people.
The statement also added that the appointment of the regional minister is the prerogative of the president and must be supported by all.
