Replica: Rawlings warns perpetrators of violence

The recent wave of contract killings, an upsurge in armed robbery and political activism in the country is a major concern not only for Ghanaian citizens, but also for the global community. Ghana, considered a beacon of democracy and the standard bearer, is now ridiculed in international circles.

Civil society such as the Catholic bishop, the former Methodist moderator, the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), as well as many prominent citizens of the country, including former President Rawlings, have added their voices to condemn the rise of vigilance in the country under the direction of HE Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo.

The NDC section in Volta observed factual inaccuracies about the attack on a certain Mr. Edem Tekpli, reported by the former president, who had contributed to the growing wave of violent attacks in the country.

The former president of H.E alluded to the fact that the attack on Mr. Edem Tekpli was the result of "our own violent internal machination against the colleague of a parliamentary future".

The NDC Volta section believes that the former president has not been well informed or has been misinformed on the issue of Mr Tekpli's attack.

You will find below the facts relating to the attack on Mr. Edem Tekpli.

Mr. Tekpli remains in Ho and works in Dakpa, Akatsi North District. According to his own account of the Amule community in Akatsi North, he was attacked at dawn on Thursday by unknown badailants who allegedly tried to take his bag from him at Ho. His refusal to give in to his request worth slapping the badailants who then stabbed him.

Mr. Tekpli reported the case to the police and was sent for treatment at a hospital in Ho, where he was treated and released.

Edem Tekpli then went to the Amule community, stayed there for a few days and went to his normal activities.

A few days later, Mr. Tekpli went to Accra to be examined at the request of a potential parliamentary candidate who had sent a vehicle to pick him up in Accra.

It should be noted that the entire Amule community is surprised to find that the story of Mr. Edem Tekpli became a political affair contrary to what he told them and what the former president said at the time. his visit.

At no time did the police say that the attack of which he was the object had been perpetrated within his own party. We should not create this impression when there is none.

The NDC chapter in Volta takes this opportunity to show sympathy for Mr. Edem Tekpli and wishes him a speedy recovery for the alleged attack by unknown badailants.

We urge everyone not to challenge any unfounded reasoning in Mr. Tekpli's attack pending the Ghanaian police report.

Thank you.
