The Volta River Authority (VRA) awarded scholarships to 50 students as part of its community development program.
The beneficiaries come from a variety of higher education institutions across the country, including 15 level 300 students, 15 level 200 students and 20 level 100 students.
The scholarship awarded on Thursday, May 2 rises to GH ¢ 745,000.00, covering the payment of tuition fees and accommodation costs.
The president of the event, Odeneho Kwafo Akoto III, supreme chief of the traditional region of Akwamu, congratulated the lucky participants by stating that "receiving this scholarship means that you have demonstrated the rigorous academic discipline required."
He urged those who do not have the chance to get the scholarship to not give up.
"Your perseverance will make the difference between success and a life of mediocrity," he added.
Odeneho Kwafo Akoto III congratulated the Volta River Authority for its continued commitment to developing the potential of the country's youth.
"In the current global economic climate, I am even more convinced that improving education is the foundation of the human capital on which the sustainable development of our country will rest," he said.
He added that the country had reached a point where it was important to strengthen students' skills through relevant and quality education.
