The West Africa Examination Council (WAEC) has intensified its inspection and monitoring activities of the current 2019 West Africa Secondary School Certification Examination (WASSCE) for students in the various centers.

WAEC, in a statement signed and published Tuesday evening by Ms. Agnes Teye-Cudjoe, Deputy Director of Public Affairs, announced that she had withdrawn and canceled the appointment of some supervisors and supervisors pending new sanctions.
She also testified that she formally filed a complaint with the Cybercrime Unit of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Ghanaian Police about the operation of some "dishonest websites", allegedly contributing to wrongdoing. .
There is a resurgence of the operation of dishonest websites whose operators, with the connivance of some supervisors and supervisors, receive snapshots of the questionnaires of the centers after the opening of the files.
They then solve the questions and post the answers on their websites and on social media platforms such as the WhatsApp candidate groups who paid for their services.
In its statement copied to Graphic Online, WAEC stated that a number of candidates suspected of having been involved in review errors are being investigated.
In addition, the Council stated that it would review all school scripts where cases of cheating were reported.
"It should be noted that a large number of candidates have performed very well and that due diligence would be followed to ensure fairness for all," the statement added.
"The Council urges all stakeholders, including members of the public, to work with it to preserve the integrity of the examinations and certificates issued."
WAEC explained that its attention was drawn to false information circulating on social media regarding the alleged leakage of documents from the current examinations.
"The Commission wishes to declare the following:
1. There has been no leakage of exam papers for the WASSCE for School Candidates, 2019.
2. That the Board, as part of its follow-up to the examination, have received information regarding examination deficiencies in the examination rooms and cheating patterns provided in some of the centers in question. reason for insufficient supervision and supervision.
3. That in some cases, insiders reported pre-established cheating, with school authorities creating hiding places where teachers with good knowledge waited until the packets of questions were open. Snapshots of these questions are taken, solved and the answers sent to the candidates in the examination room.
4. Smuggling cell phones into the examination room by candidates waiting for solutions, as indicated in point 3 above.
5. Reappearing of the exploitation of unauthorized websites. These website operators, with the connivance of some supervisors and supervisors, receive snapshots of the centers' questionnaires after opening the questionnaires packages. They then solve the questions and post the answers on their websites and to the groups of WhatsApp candidates who paid for their services.
To meet these challenges, the Council has put in place the following measures:
(1) increased inspection and monitoring of examination in various centers;
(2) canceled and / or canceled the appointment of certain supervisors and supervisors pending further sanctions;
(3) made a formal complaint to the CID Cybercrime Unit regarding the operation of unauthorized websites;
(4) A number of candidates suspected of having been involved in review errors are investigated.
In a second step, the Council would examine all the writings of the schools where the cheating had been reported. .
