The West Africa Exam Board (WAEC) has released the provisional results of the West Africa 2019 West Africa Certification Exam (WASSCE).

In a statement, the council said it would soon send the results to the different schools and that candidates could contact the principals of their schools to get their results.

However, the complete results of 48,855 candidates were disclosed pending the conclusion of investigations into various cases of inaccurate exam-related practices detected during and after the course of the examination.

These wrongdoings include sending foreign documents such as prepared notes, printed materials and cell phones to the examination room.

Others are the collusion between candidates and the planned cheating that took place with the connivance of some supervisors and school authorities.

The 2019 figure represents an increase over last year when 26,434 results were retained.
