The Citi TV Campaign Against Indiscipline (WAI) campaign team returned Wednesday to the Legon-GIMPA Link road where dozens of motorists were arrested for disobeying the highway code.
Among those arrested was a driver from the Forestry Commission who drove a Nissan Patrol car registered under registration number GN-707-Y with a police officer and two army officers on board.
The driver was driving in the middle of the road.
Although some of those arrested objected to the duty officers, they remained firm and ensured that they were sent to the Achimota Forest Police Station for further processing.
Cale News's Caleb Kudah announced that a driver of the blue Hyundai Elentra vehicle was quickly sent to Accra Central District Police Headquarters for resisting arrest by the police and causing the escape of two drivers misplaced because of his behavior.
The driver of the vehicle was stopped for taking the wrong side of the road.
She also attempted to badault a journalist after her arrest.
Simon Tenkuu, ASP of the Police's Public Affairs Directorate, said that the exercise had been largely successful, even though it was stressful because of the large number of drivers who did not adhere to the code of the road.
He told Citi News in an interview that the police were firmly in control of the situation and were doing their best to ensure mental health on the road.
"We are firm and in control. Those who offended the law are sent to the Achimota police station for treatment in court. We will ensure that this exercise is maintained. We want to warn all motorists to respect the law. We do this for their safety. We do it for reasons of order and we want everyone to cooperate with us by respecting the rules of the road, "he said.
The war against indiscipline, launched by Citi TV in May 2019, allowed the government to win more than 100,000 GHc thanks to stray drivers.
