Wall St opens flat on fears of slowing economic growth

September 8 (Reuters) – Major Wall Street indices opened flat on Wednesday amid fears the spread of the Delta coronavirus variant could slow economic growth and uncertainty over the timing for the Federal Reserve to withdraw its accommodating policies.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average (.DJI) lost 12.55 points, or 0.04%, to open at 35,087.45.

The S&P 500 (.SPX) opened lower 1.94 points, or 0.04%, to 4,518.09, while the Nasdaq Composite (.IXIC) lost 13.98 points, or 0.09% , at 15,360.35 at the opening bell.
