Disney + will release two episodes of the Marvel WandaVision series next week to mark the show’s launch, the streamer has confirmed.
The spin-off TV series, which premieres on Disney + on Friday, January 15, will see Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany reprise their respective roles as MCU characters Wanda Maximoff and Vision after the events of 2019 in Avengers: Endgame.
While fans initially expected the series to be six-part, Marvel recently revealed that WandaVision will actually consist of nine episodes, with installments coming to Disney + weekly.
Teasing the episodes to come, chief writer Jac Schaeffer revealed that Marvel fans “had never seen Wanda and Vision this way before.”
“Their storyline was so romantic and tragic – the fans really hung on to it,” she said. “But really, it’s been very little screen time, and it’s been very busy. In this show we see them in a domestic light and it breathes. It’s really beautiful.”
The first series of WandaVision will follow the couple as they begin their married life in a new city and Vision begins their new job as Wanda navigates home life, director Matt Shakman said.
“They fear that you are hiding their powers from their new friends and neighbors, and when pressured to obtain more information about their country of origin, they are perplexed,” he added. “This is where we start to realize that things are not quite what they appear to be.”
