Imagine a world where the Beatles never existed …

You could argue that Danny Boyle and Richard Curtis are the most powerful filmmakers in British cinema. One was running Trainspotting 28 days later and Slumdog Millionaire. The other wrote Four Weddings and a Funeral, Notting Hill and Love Actually. Two titans, yes, but their sensibilities filmmakers do not seem to go together.

Their first film together, Yesterday looks like nuts. It's a Beatles movie that does not talk about the Beatles.

The film portrays Himesh Patel as Jack Malik, a typical Curtis man, as he is very cute, has smooth hair and is very prone to accidents. He crushes his bike, causing the loss of his two front teeth and apparently all the existence of the Beatles.

Jack wakes up in a world where he is the only one to remember the Fab Four and their songs. So, when he sings 'Yesterday' to his friends, they think he wrote it. And "Hey Jude," "Let It Be," and all other successes. He naturally becomes a big star of world music, the greatest songwriter in history. But does he deserve it?

Of course, there must be a romcom element and it comes in the form of Lily James in the role of Ellie, the girlfriend left behind after Jack's fame. Will it be what brings him back to earth and makes him realize that all you need is love? Probably yes.

The trailer also features a surprising amount of Ed Sheeran. After Bridget Jones's Baby and Game of Thrones camcorders, this seems to be a bigger role for the singer, who gleefully makes fun of himself with jokes about his shot and his attempts to ruin Hey Jude.

It will be necessary to wait for the release of the film in June to know if Sheeran succeeds in its perverse master plan to annihilate one of the best songs of history.
