MANILA – For the Miss Universe 2018 competition, she wore dresses inspired by Ibong Adarna and Mayon Volcano.
And for her reunion parade later this afternoon, Catriona Gray will once again wear something that reflects her Filipino roots.
On Friday, in a message on Facebook, designer Mak Tumang presented the public with a glimpse of Gray's outfit: a terno jumpsuit adorned with motifs from Philippine plants sampaguita and anahaw.
He also showed a mini dress with the same details.
"The sampaguita, known as Philippine jasmine, is the national flower of our beautiful country, the Philippines. The legend says that its etymology is derived from the Filipino words" sumpa kita ", which means" I promise you ", he explained.
"Interestingly, this flower has a lot to do with the concept of returning home … Thank you for the promise you made to make the Filipino people proud." Mabuhay! he told Gray.
Tumang's is known after creating symbolic dresses for Gray at Miss Universe and the national show Binibining Pilipinas.
