The Chairman of the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) Board of Directors has brought together his colleagues for a two-party approach to reduce pollution and the destruction of the country's water bodies.
This, according to Alexander Afenyo Markin, will ensure the uninterrupted water supply of the public.
"I call my colleagues … who know that water is life, must support this statement. This is not rhetoric [and] Make partisan politics for our country to win this war …, "MP Effutu told parliament on Tuesday.
His call comes a day after it appeared that an entrepreneur was at the root of the severe water shortage that was raging in the city of Takoradi, in the west of country.

The company reportedly cited its activities on the Anankore River, the main source of water for the GWCL treatment plant in Intchaban.
This resulted in a significant drop in daily pumped water volume for residents, from 4 million gallons per day to 1.4 million gallons per day.
As a result, more than 400,000 residents of the metropolis have been struggling with a persistent water shortage for more than a month.

Mr. Afenyo Markin lamented the fact that human activities near dams serving water-producing factories make an essential contribution to the inadequate supply of water to the population.
He noted that the government had invested about $ 2 billion in the water sector over the years, but this still was not enough to meet the needs of consumers.
"Because of that, we even deal with seawater [desalination] at a very high cost, "revealed the chairman of the GWCL board of directors.
