Watford goalkeeper Ben Foster encouraged his teammate Heurelho Gomes to stand in front of him in the FA Cup final, joking that he would have refused to play if he was chosen.
Foster is the club's number one and has been one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League this season, but Gomes has not lost the lead in cup competition.
The Brazilian played 120 minutes on Sunday as Watford reached his first FA Cup final since 1984, going from 2 to 0 to defeat the Wolves 3-2 after an overtime at Wembley.
The 38-year-old should retire at the end of the season, which means the final of the cup will be his last match as a professional. Foster believes that there should be no doubt about the fact that he keeps his place.
When asked what he would do if he was selected for the final, Foster said, "I will absolutely refuse!
"Heurelho deserves it and should play without a doubt. He has never dropped this club and will never do it. He was fantastic today. "
