WB says DC Film president cooperated in investigation

WarnerMedia has come to Walter Hamada’s defense after Ray Fisher reaffirmed Hamada’s alleged interference in the Justice League investigation.

WarnerMedia has come to the defense of Walter Hamada, the president of DC Films, after Ray Fisher publicly tweeted about Hamada’s alleged interference during the Justice League investigation. The heart of the matter came after Fisher – who played Cyborg – accused Joss Whedon of abusive and inappropriate behavior while making the film. Fisher’s accusations received public support from his Justice League co-stars, Gal Gadot and Jason Momoa. WarnerMedia ended up conducting a full-scale investigation into Whedon’s behavior on set during production, as well as Fisher’s claims that producers Geoff Johns and Jon Berg allowed Whedon. It concluded in December 2020, with “corrective action” taken, although details of what exactly that meant were not made public.

Despite the official investigation being completed, Fisher’s issues with WarnerMedia are far from resolved. In September 2020, Fisher said Hamada tried to persuade him to implicate Johns in the scandal, thereby throwing all responsibility on Whedon and Berg. Warner Bros. denied Fisher’s allegations and argued that the actor had offered no proof of his allegations against Hamada. Fisher continued to support his claim and today criticized Warner Bros. for reporting on a new film featuring a black Superman – highlighting the hypocrisy of Hamada and WarnerMedia that allegedly silenced Fisher while trying to earn points with it. the diversity.

In a statement (via Variety), WarnerMedia again denied Fisher’s claims of Hamada’s interference. WarnerMedia has accused Fisher of false allegations – and reaffirmed that Hamada and all other WB executives are fully cooperating with the Justice League investigation. Katherine B. Forrest, one of the third-party investigators hired by WarnerMedia, also came to Hamada’s defense, saying that Hamada had not intervened and had provided information useful to the investigation. Check out WarnerMedia’s full statement below:

Once again, false statements are being made about our leadership and our society in connection with the recent Justice League investigation. As we have already indicated, a thorough and thorough third party investigation has been carried out. Our leaders, including Walter Hamada, cooperated fully, no evidence was found of any interference, and Warner Bros. did not lie in the press. It’s time to stop saying the opposite and move forward productively.

Shortly after Variety piece was uploaded, Fisher hit back on Twitter. He pointed to how WarnerMedia had attempted to sidestep Fisher’s claims by confirming that Hamada had not intervened. Fisher argued that his allegations were always about Hamada’s attempted interference, consistently noting that the DC Films president had failed to persuade Fisher to keep Johns out of the investigation.

While the conflicting stories make it difficult to definitively know what the truth is – Fisher has proven to be consistent and reliable with his allegations against Whedon, Hamada, and Warner Bros. His accusations against the company have likely come at a heavy cost to him, personally and professionally – seeing how uncertain his future as a Cyborg in the DCEU is. It’s unclear exactly what Fisher would stand to gain by making all of these accusations, as he has already lost job opportunities by speaking out. The back-and-forth between Fisher and WarnerMedia is probably far from over, and we’ll likely continue to hear more about the Justice League investigation in the near future.
