In a press release, a group calling themselves NDC Ashanti Youth said the party’s defeated 2020 standard-bearer John Mahama was no longer fit to lead the party because “he neglected us when he was in power. “.

The group said Mahama paid little attention to the Ashanti region, in particular, when forming his cabinet and gave priority to other regions.

“How is it that only the metropolis of Tamale has had three ministers while the largest region of the country, Ashanti has been neglected?”

“In fact, at the start of the administration, there was only one minister of the Ashanti region – the Minister of Environmental Science and Technology, Professor Oteng Agyei – who was bitterly sacked and mysteriously just a few months after the start of the administration, ”the group said and signed by President Kweku Asare Mensah said.

He added: “John Mahama is due to hit the region on September 13 with his thank you tour, but the youth of the party are sending the signal that they are fed up with him.

“How is it that John Mahama appointed five ministers from the central region in addition to having the vice-president from the same region. How is it that there were also five ministers from the eastern region in addition to the chief of staff? “

“John Mahama, who could have neglected the Ashanti region so much, now pretends to be the boy in love just to cheat on us and neglect the region again. Our message to him is simple. He should not count on us because he neglected us when he had the power. The NDC needs a new leadership direction, a leader who is there to build a more formidable party and not just for his personal good, ”he added.
