EFF leader Julius Malema is open to the idea that his party will form coalitions after next week's elections. Several municipalities are at his bedside.
In a one-to-one conversation with News24 this week, Malema said he's considering a "change model" across the country.
He was speaking before his Tshela Thupa party rally on Sunday – his "ultimate push" at Soweto's Orlando Stadium before the South Africans went to the polls on Wednesday.
The EFF Commander-in-Chief suggested that the parties return to the negotiating table to determine who should lead which municipalities.
He envisioned that the EFF be responsible for Tshwane, ruled by a DA-led coalition, badisted by Malema's party in the framework of an informal working relationship since the 2016 local government elections.

"We are in May, after the elections to Parliament, we are sworn in, we elect the president, then he appoints his cabinet and once we have reached we begin negotiations on how we share the municipalities and with whom … There is Tshwane, Joburg, Ekurhuleni, Nelson Mandela Bay (municipality), the city of Mogale, many in KZN (KwaZulu-Natal) and two municipalities in Limpopo, "said Malema.
The leader of the EFF said that one scenario meant that his party reached an agreement with another party and started a national working relationship.
Another option might be to badociate with different parties in different municipalities, Malema said.
Although he does not know which partnership models they would adopt, he wants the mayor of Johannesburg, Herman Mashaba, to remain in command of the city.
"Tshwane is useless, that's why we take it in June but (with) Mashaba, you have the best.All who say that it is not true are supporters and have a problem," said Malema to a leader to whom his party opposed agreed to establish working relations with the DA in Johannesburg.
Malema said his party would only ask for positions on the mayor's council because he was satisfied with Mashaba.
"I told everyone that I am ready to make Mashaba a mayor of Johannesburg, even with the ANC.If the attorney tells you anything, we are ready to beg Mashaba to stay and continue serving the people of Johannesburg, "says Malema.
"Maimane does not direct the series"
He questioned the leader of his DA counterpart, Mmusi Maimane, who had expressed concerns about the EFF during an interview with News24 last week.
Maimane defended the DA posters urging voters to keep the ANC and EFF out of the Western Cape. Maimane said the two parties would not do any good if they formed a coalition in the Western Cape.

Malema does not believe that Maimane had a say in the posters. He told News24 that it was clear to him that Maimane was not responsible.
"He does not direct the show, there are other people who run it," he said.
He also said that during negotiations, the EFF was often between "hard and hard".
"The ANC does not have the kind of attitude to try to solve the corruption problems." He said it was necessary to "sensitize" South Africans about this and show them that they could live alongside their African counterparts without any tension.
"In reality, we were one thing before these borders were imposed on us.Everyone who says that I am an EFF, I do not support colonialism, I do not support imperialism, but supports at the same time that borders unintentionally support colonialism because it thrives on African divisions, "said Malema.
