Ghana's police force expressed sadness over the fact that some people were considered a driver and that its conductor physically badaulted a police officer.
A bus driver and his driver who were arrested were captured in a video attacking a police officer who was trying to ask them to park wrong.
ACP, David Eklu, director general of the Public Affairs Directorate of the Ghana Police, ACP, expressed surprise at an interview with Peace FM's "Kokrokoo" program.
"I can not understand how saddened we are that many people stood there doing nothing, I thought the public could have helped but they did not do it and it saddened us", was he lamented.
According to him, "the people around could have helped stop both (arrest of a citizen) because they were doing something wrong; attacking a man in uniform or they could have dialed the emergency number of the police".
In the meantime, the driver and his boss will be appearing in court today.
According to the police officer who is at the Odorkor Police Station, he was performing his task when he was badaulted by civilians who confronted them while they were breaking the law on the regulation of the road.
The officer revealed that he had confronted the driver after he parked in the middle of the road to pick up pbadengers, which had resulted in heavy traffic.
He also stated that he had gone on the scene to resolve the situation, but that he had had an accident between a motorcycle and a private car and that he was trying to remedy the situation, he had been almost overturned by the driver who had parked in the middle of the road.
According to the policeman, he chased the driver on a motorcycle that he managed to cross and wondered why he was driving recklessly.
The drivers and their companions then decided to jump on the policeman and ended up hitting him without mercy.
