Gloria Akuffo, Attorney General
Attorney General Gloria Akuffo said that the CEO of the gold distribution company Menzgold could not yet be brought to Ghana.
According to her, although Nana Appiah Mensah was acquitted of the case in a case that had been brought against him in the Emirati capital, Dubai, he can not be brought to Ghana, as was requested.
"When he was acquitted, we were informed that the complainant had time to appeal and that as long as he was not exhausted, we could not get him out of there.
"So we have to wait outside this period," she said in an interview with Joy FM Drive Time's Lexis Bill in the "Personality Profile" on Thursday.
NAM 1, as it is commonly known, was arrested in Dubai in December 2018 as part of an alleged sloppy gold case with a Ghanaian company, of which he knew one of the officials.
It would have landed in Dubai in the hope of recovering some $ 39 million owed to Menzgold by Dubai-based Horizon Royal Diamonds DMCC for supplying gold when it was stopped.
Mensah would have won the court case ordering all outstanding debts to be reimbursed.
But the fact that the government did not fire the troubled CEO has angered some of the clients whose funds are still stuck as a result of his company's closure.
The Attorney General, however, stated that INTERPOL had agreed with INTERPOL Ghana to cooperate in bringing him back.
