The director general of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA), Mohammed Nii Adjei Sowah, has appealed to the Ministry of Public Works and Housing to help defuse the Odaw River in order to avoid the floods in the metropolis of Accra when the rains begin.

Sowah said, however, that the government had secured $ 150 million in seed funding from the World Bank for the construction of a rainwater collector under the Integrated Climate Resilient Development Project. of Greater Accra to help resolve persistent floods in Accra and surrounding areas.

He added that WADA is waiting for the intervention of Works and Housing to resolve the Odaw River situation as soon as possible before the rains begin.
