Ashanti Regional Minister Simon Osei-Mensah said the Regional Security Council (REGSEC) had no information on the identity of the security personnel who shot dead 2 people during the June 29 demonstration against the murder of social media activist in Ejura.

He reiterated to the commission of inquiry that it has not yet been established who killed the two residents in the middle of the protest.

Footage from the June 29 scene shows four soldiers moving in a horizontal line with a police water cannon charging at the protesters.

Security personnel were initially shooting in the sky, but the protesters were unfazed and continued to advance. Military personnel then started shooting into the crowd.

Two people were hit and the crowd dispersed, with some of the protesters taking cover.

Meanwhile, in his testimony before the government commission of inquiry at the commission’s first session on Tuesday, July 6, the regional minister claimed that the violence in the community after the death of Ibrahim Mohammed was instigated by a certain Abee Wakaz.
