The family of the late Mohammed Ibrahim commonly known as Kaaka who was killed in Ejura said they would not testify at the ongoing public hearing into the causes of the unrest in Ejura in the Ashanti region.
The family said they could not participate in the hearing because “the events of the past few days have left less certainty about the scope, direction, real intent and even usefulness of the investigation. Classes”.
“As such, we feel disappointed in our enthusiasm for what we assumed provided a much needed opportunity for truth, soul-searching and institutional accountability for state-sanctioned violence,” a statement released by family.
He continued, “We, the family of Ibrahim ‘Kaaka’ Mohammed, regret to officially inform you of our decision not to
participate in the ongoing public inquisition, which is said to be concerned about the circumstances which led to the unfortunate events of Tuesday, June 29, 2021 ”.
“As you may know, we love a lot of people in Ejura, welcomed and continue to appreciate the president’s decision to ask you to investigate the circumstances that led to the indiscriminate killings of the people of Ejura by members of our military forces. We congratulate you on your decision to respond to the call of civil society organizations to withdraw from the investigation; and to create a separate commission of inquiry.
“However, the events of the past few days have left less certainty as to the scope, focus, real intent and even usefulness of the ongoing investigation. As such, we feel disappointed in our enthusiasm for what we assumed provided a much needed opportunity for truth, soul-searching, and institutional accountability for state-sanctioned violence.
