The National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) has revealed that it does not have sufficient resources to deal with natural disasters at the beginning of the flood season.

According to NADMO Executive Director, Nana Agyeman Prempeh told Parliament's Public Accounts Committee on Monday, April 15, 2019, that the organization was facing a debt of 34 million crowns and 28 lawsuits. for debts contracted before 2017.

He revealed that funds donated to NADMO by the Ministry of Finance this year are being spent on debt repayment, leaving no means for dealing with disasters as the country opens the rainy season.

"… I am sitting here at the present time and I have about 28 court cases. So we pay the debt for this reason, we do not have much money to buy relief items. While we are sitting here this year, we have not been able to buy anything. I will say that we do not have enough resources. "

At the same time, Interior Minister Ambrose Dery confirmed that NADMO did not have resources, but badured that the government would release funds when needed to help the victims.
