Ernesto Yeboah, head of the Economic Fighters League, described Ghanaian democracy as a false democracy in a misleading constitution.
Speaking at the official launch of "Civil Disobedience" in Accra, he asked, "Where is democracy?" When elected employees do what they want, whether we like it or not. that we do not want a cathedral, they say we are going to build … we say we do not want a new room, they stop us, insult us and attack us to silence us. Is a false democracy created and supported by a sakawa constitution ".
According to him, Ghanaians line up every four years to vote for people who have selfish ambitions and have little concern for the welfare of their citizens.
Ernesto Yeboah said, "There is no democracy in Ghana. What we have is a representation of democracy in which the representatives represent their own interests. Citizens have no power, except once every four years, where they have to form long queues to vote for people who do not care about their well-being. "
He went on to explain that, after their election to power, these people have become shortsighted for the development projects that need to be worked in the country. Instead ask useless things such as building a national cathedral and a new room in the country.
"Where is this democracy when the servants have become masters and those who are supposed to be masters have to beg for their basic needs?" He asked.
Making a call for unity for Ghanaians, he urged everyone to come together and fight against the construction of the proposed new House in Parliament, which costs $ 200 million.
He added that the construction of a new room was useless, which is why a huge sum of money should be earmarked for development projects, for the payment of compensation. teachers and trainees, among other useful work.
The president of the economic fighters claimed that Ghana had been hijacked and taken hostage by people whose only role is to protect their interests, while citizens pay the consequences of their actions and inactions.
He therefore called on all participants to work as a team to bring the country out of the "claws of vampires and set the agenda for a new future of prosperity and success".
Context
Ernesto Yeboah and a member of the Economic Freedom Fighters, Abeiku Adams, were both arrested in parliament on Friday, July 5, 2019, after disrupting parliamentary procedure by shouting "Drop this room" from the platform where they sat.
